The question has been asked a million times by women everywhere do diet pills cause weight loss. In recent years some of the most popular prescription (and over the counter) diet pills have been banned due to the risk factors they present, women everywhere looking to lose weight this new year are wondering if it’s safe to even consider using a diet pill to aid your weight loss resolutions.

Prescription and non prescription diet pills have been around for many years and have been used safely by thousands of women over the past years. But that doesn’t mean there are not risks when it comes to taking diets pills for quick weight loss.

The key ingredients in diet pills, are often the most harmful to some women. Those dangerous ingredients are the stimulants and fat blockers found in all of the pills.

Diet pills help women lose weight by speeding up there metabolism, causing them to burn more calories at a much faster rate than normal. The risk is that they don’t just cause a women’s metabolism to work harder. They make you heart work harder too, and women who may suffer from heart disease or high blood pressure, taking these types of stimulants (ephedrine) can be very dangerous and present serious risks and dangers. Women should always check with there doctor before taking any form of weight loss pills, even over the counter weight loss remedies can be dangerous, depending on the women taking them. And what there current health conditions are at the time.

Fat blockers another main ingredient in diet pills, work by keeping fat cells from sticking to women’s fat tissues. When you flush the fats that you digest from your body before they have a chance to stick to your hip’s you may present a risk to your liver. Unfortunately, many women who take fat blocking pills do not know they are in a high risk category until it is too late, and the liver gets damaged.

The most dangerous factor involvolving the diet pill supplement business is none are FDA approved. When you take the FDA out of the picture who knows what your risks or side effects may be.  Here are some things women need to be aware of before they choose a weight loss aid.

Always consult with your doctor or local pharmacist about any possible interactions your diet pill or fat blocker of choice may have with other med’s you are currently taking. Try not to buy diets pills over the Internet unless you really know and trust the maker. Only take the recommended dosage of the pill. Women should never take any diet pill for more than 90 days at a time. Pay close attention to your glucose, liver enzymes and blood pressure while your are taking any kind of fat loss supplement. If you crush diet pills it may change their concentration, and this can cause serious harm.

I’m not saying diet pills and other weight loss aids are not safe, or that you won’t get the exact effects you are looking for, but I am telling you to know the risks and weight them against all rewards you may get from them.
