The truth about protein powders and what you need to know. The most popular protein is Whey Protein it has some fat loss, and many muscle building supplements with numerous benefits, one of my favourite protein powders.Whey protein is also water soluble and your body will easily digest Whey Protein. I recommend you use it as a pre workout and after workout supplement because it can quickly put the needed nutrients back into your system. It has no taste so it is manufactured in various flavors.Whey protein contains all the amino acids you’ll need to grow and recover making it a complete form of protein. Since whey is a protein, it has no side effects, it is the best protein you can take and I do recommend it for any one serious about fitness.

Soy Protein contains a higher concentration of protein per weight than whey protein does. But it is not taste less so you might not like the taste of soy so it is usually made with fruit flavors to mask the bad taste. Good stuff but taste can be an issue with many.

Cassein Protein is derived from milk and can take a while for your body to digest it does not break down as fast as Whey Proteins. Maximum muscle growth takes place while you sleep. So taking Cassein Protein at night before bedtime makes the most sense, and will allow you to get the full benefits of Cassein Protein.
There is allot to learn about Protein powders and I can go on but I wanted to keep it simple and just touch on some of the different kinds of Protein powders available.

WHEN SHOULD I TAKE MY PROTEIN TO GET THE MOST OUT OF IT

You should never drink a protein supplement  before your work out, many people do this thinking that it will give them an energy boost or give them a head start for post workout recovery. But in fact, all it does is sit in your stomach and bloat you up. Valuable blood that should be going to working muscles gets sent to the digestive system to try and digest it. The same goes for taking protein during a workout. This is not good protein drinks can help but if you don’t know when to take them your just wasting good money, we both know they are not cheep.

About an hour after a workout, your body has settled down and is ready to start rebuilding it’s muscle. The protein drink that you took in immediately following the workout has been metabolized and your body is looking for more. Drink another protein shake at this time is a good way to help speed recovery. Try to take in another 20 to 30 grams about an hour after working out. Protein shakes can help grow muscle but if you don’t take them at the right times your just wasting your time and money.
