Fiber is important and we all need it but do you really understand what fiber does and why your body needs it? There are 2 types of fiber soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. When soluble fiber breaks down and moves though your digestive system it gets converted into a gel and helps slow the digestion of the food you have eatin thus lowering the effects of and limiting blood sugar spikes that may occur when you have eatin a particularly high sugar and low fiber meal. Both fibers are important to maintaining a healthy life style.
Dietary fiber is only can only come from plant products such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, so you can’t get fiber out of meats. Steak and Chicken has no fiber nor can you get your daily doses of fiber without eating the grains and fruits. Don’t neglect them your body needs fiber, and fruit’s, vegetables and grains are a terrific source of fiber.
A diet rich in fiber can help you feel full for longer and this prevents over eating as well, and that will help you lose weight, or at the very least keep you from putting extra pounds on. The proper fiber intake enhances feelings of satiety and the foods that contain fiber are lower in calories compared to foods that don’t carry alot of fiber. Grains and vegetables are healthy and will help you lose weight, so eat more of them.
