This New Years millions of women will set out to lose weight, quit smoking, get fit, eat healthier and countless other resolutions, but do you realize that over eighty percent of all new years resolutions fail? It seems after doing some research that there are several reasons why the failure rate is so high for new years resolutions, lets look at why your resolution will fail this 2010…unless you know what to fix you never will.

1.) Emotional feelings dictate your actions

Women can be very emotional, and emotions can and will change from day to day. You may have set a goal for a better job, a weight loss plan, to get to the gym more, to finally quit smoking, to finish your college degree, or to start your own women’s blog.

No matter how good your intentions are, many women give in to there emotional state of being because when your mind changes, you will no longer believe you will be able to achieve your resolution goals if you let your mind get the best of you, our minds and emotional state can and will play a critical role in our success rate.

2.) Only set smart goals this new years

Anyone can say they want to lose more weight for 2010 write it on a sticky pad and slap it on the refrigerator door, but what are the chances that you will indeed lose weight if that’s your game plan. Your goals need to be very specific, measurable, very attainable, more realistic, and achievable in a timely manner. Goals that are too vague and general for you will most likely end in failure.

3.) Don’t Give Up Before The Miracle Happens

Goals take time to achieve, if you start a new diet, you need to give yourself enough time in order to measure your progress and see if it’s the right diet for you. Don’t quit after two weeks just because you didn’t lose 20 pounds, diets take time so give yourself enough of it.

4.) Negative people can reduce your chances of success

Advise and encouragement from friends and loved ones is a good thing. Everyone loves positive comments and when other notice your progress, it makes us feel good. But just as people can be encourager’s, the same holds true for those who don’t believe in you, some spouses can be cruel and very un-suportive, maybe you husband doesn’t want you to lose 50 pounds in fear that you will get hit on by other men if you do. Who knows why some people like to see others fail, maybe they just want to say “I told You So”!!!!! Don’t let someones negativity stop you and your goals in life, no matter who small or significant they may be.

5.) You must have a game plan

Women who fail to plan are just planing to fail, it may take a while but it will happen. You must have a long term plan and a short term plan. How are you going to keep the weight off once you lose it, how are you going to avoid the triggers that cause you to smoke, have a plan and you’ll be more opt to succeed, it’s a fact!!

As a Christian believer, I firmly believe in the power of faith and belief in my own personal and professional life. If you believe it you can achieve it.
